If you lose your device, the first 24 hours are critical. You must block your M-PESA and SIM card with Safaricom, Airtel, or Telkom immediately.

Can I track my stolen phone in Kenya?
Not directly as a private citizen. Tracking requires an OB Number from the police, your IMEI number, and a formal DCI request. The DCI works with Safaricom/Airtel to triangulate the phone when a new SIM is inserted. You can also register your IMEI here so buyers are alerted it's stolen.
What is an IMEI number and where do I find it?
Your IMEI (International Mobile Equipment Identity) is a unique 15-digit number for your device. Dial *#06# on your phone to display it, or check the box/receipt your phone came in. Write it down before your phone is lost — you will need it for DCI and police reports.
Will reporting my phone on LostPhoneKE help me get it back?
Yes — indirectly. When someone buys a phone and checks it on our platform, they see it's flagged as stolen. Buyers who find a match can contact you through our anonymous relay system. Many recoveries happen because second-hand buyers check before purchasing.
Can Safaricom block my stolen phone?
Safaricom can block your SIM card and M-Pesa immediately — call 100. For IMEI blacklisting (blocking the physical device from all networks), you need to visit a Safaricom shop with your OB Number and IMEI. This is then relayed to the Communications Authority of Kenya.
How do I report a stolen phone to the police online in Kenya?
You can file an e-report through the eCitizen portal (ecitizen.go.ke) under the National Police Service section. However, for urgent cases, physically visiting the nearest police station remains faster. You will receive an OB (Occurrence Book) number for any follow-up actions.

Search the phone's IMEI or serial number on our homepage. If a report exists, click "Contact Owner Securely" — your message is relayed to the owner via email without revealing your identity. You can include your contact info if you wish to be reached back.
